How to generate an iCloud app-specific password
An iCloud app-specific password gives Klearbox limited IMAP access to your mailbox — nothing more. Revoke it any time from your Apple ID.
Sign in to your Apple ID
Go to appleid.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
Open App-Specific Passwords
Under "Sign-In and Security", click "App-Specific Passwords". If you don't see this option, you need to enable two-factor authentication on your Apple ID first.
Generate a new password
Click the + button (or "Generate an app-specific password"). Enter a label such as "Klearbox" — this is just for your reference.
Copy the password
Apple displays the 16-character app-specific password. Copy it now — it is shown only once. If you lose it, you will need to generate a new one.
Enter it in Klearbox
In Klearbox, select "iCloud Mail" as your provider. Enter your @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com address and paste the app-specific password.
Requirements
- • Two-factor authentication must be enabled on your Apple ID
- • iCloud Mail must be enabled in your iCloud settings (iCloud+)
- • App-specific passwords are limited to 25 active at a time — revoke old ones if needed
Security note
Never share your app-specific password — treat it like a password. Klearbox stores it encrypted until you remove it from Settings or delete your account. Revoke it at any time from Apple ID → Sign-In and Security → App-Specific Passwords.
